Accessing your Mobile Data

Your GTT handset is already configured with the correct APN for data use.  However, in the event that you may need to add the APN, please follow the steps below:

For Android Devices

  1. Open your “Settings”
  2. Select the option “More” or “More Networks”
  3. Select “Mobile Networks”
  4. Turn on “mobile data and data roaming”
  5. Tap on “Access Point Name”
  6. Create the APN with the following (enter all information in lower case with no spaces):
  • Name: gtt
  • APN: gtt
  • Username: gtt
  • Password: gtt
  • Authentication Type: PAP
  • APN Type: default (for some handsets you may be required to select internet instead)
  • Save the settings then select the APN to activate

For iOS Devices

APN should be auto generated. If it is not, then follow these simple steps:

  1. Select “Settings”
  2. Go to “Cellular”
  3. Turn on “Cellular Data & Data Roaming”
  4. Select “Cellular Data Network”
  5. Create the APN with the following (enter all information in lower case with no spaces):

If you have purchased a data plan but you are still not able to connect to the internet:

  • Ensure you have the correct APN settings
  • Ensure you select the APN option
  • Ensure your mobile data option is turned on
  • Switch your phone to airplane mode for 10 seconds, then switch back to network mode

Did you know that you can set which apps use mobile data or Wi-Fi data?

Android's Built-In Option to Restrict Background Data
You can restrict apps from using data on Samsung, Google, OnePlus, or any other Android phone with these steps:

  1. Head over to your phone Settings. You can do this by swiping down from the top of your phone's screen. Then tap the settings icon at the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Network & Internet > Data usage. You'll see the amount of data you've used at the top of that menu.
  3. Select App data usage to see how much data each app has used recently.
  4. Check through the list and tap the app that uses the most data. For instance, you may be surprised how much data YouTube alone uses.
  5. Toggle off Background data to turn off cellular data for specific apps.
  6. Turn off Unrestricted data as well if it's not off already. That keeps the app in check when data saver is active.
